Very basic iPhone help needed

I’ll start by saying that I know absolutely nothing about iPhones, but need to get a new phone in a hurry and can’t wait for the iPhone 5 to be released. I’m planning to use mainly the phone and data features, probably not much for playing music, and was curious to know if there was a significant difference in features so far as voiceover is concerned between the 3gs, 4 and 4s. Any help would be greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance.

I'd go with the 4. Mainly I think the differences are in the operating system, currently IOS 5.1.1. I went from a 3GS to a 4 last summer and notice improvement in battery life.

Depends on what sort of barget you have and what you trying to achieve on the phone. Basicly, in terms of voiceover, they are pretty similar from 3gs to 4 and 4s, however, in terms of other function itself is rather different. Take iphone 3gs for example, the it comes in 16gb and 32gb, and i think in the states you may able to get the 8gb model. With 3gs it doesn't have facetime, or hotspot. It is a touch slow than 4, quite slow compare to 4s.
With 4, you get facetime, and hotspot. You also get a better battry life. You don't have 8gb, you only have 16gb and 32gb.
With 4s however, you get the whole lots, you also get a feature call SIRI, and what that does is basicly giving you the option of voice control detation. That means, you can use your voice to open an app, write a message, call someone, etc etc. Although SIRI only available on 4S, but you do get a limited voice control on 3gs and 4. The limited voice control allows you to play music, make a call, and that. It does not have the ability to datate your messages and also interact with you like the 4s does. If you need to get an iphone now, i would suggest you to take a close look on either 4 or 4s. If your barget allows you to afford a 4s, please do so, as when IOS6 is out, there should have more feature that 4s can handle where else, 4 may not able to handle it. But if your barget is rather restrain to either 3gs or 4, i would strongly suggest you to o for 4.
All the best

I agree with Joanne. If you need to get an iPhone now, I'd get the 4S. It's not so much that there are differences with Voice-Over itself. But the 4S has a faster processor, and I think a better camera, if you wanted to use your phone for scanning money, or documents, or whatever. Each new release of IOS also seems to bring new features to voice-over. And as IOS advances, the older phones will not be able to run it. The 4S would best allow you to keep up with that. I would definitely not get a 3GS. I know it may be the cheapeast, but from what friends have told me, the 3GS already has a hard time running the current IOS version, let alone any that comes out in the future.

Yes Alicia, my sighted friends do complain about the lag on 3gs using ios5 and 5.1. Thats without using voiceover even. 4s does have a better camera, faster processer, improve battry life and that too.

All are correct. Read my post on ways to buy them for low prices if you live in the US anyway. Get the manual and read about it as well, that will help you decide. www.apple.com
